It was a full and productive week in Dublin for the Ireland–Alberta Trade Association, marked by meetings, events and conversations that underscored the deepening relationship between Ireland and Alberta across multiple sectors.
From technology and education to clean energy and agri-food, discussions throughout the week revealed a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability and partnership. While the schedule included formal meetings, it also extended to major networking events such as the Dublin Chamber Gala, the Ireland Canada Business Association’s Maple Leaf Dinner and the international Hydrogen Conference—all important platforms for advancing trade and investment dialogue between the two regions.
A Week of Cross-Sector Engagement
The conversations reflected the diversity of Alberta’s economy and Ireland’s growing interest in collaboration. Energy transition, hydrogen and renewables were front and centre, with meaningful exchanges about policy alignment, industry capacity and future project partnerships. The visit also highlighted opportunities in digital innovation, higher education and agri-food—three areas where Ireland’s leadership and Alberta’s resources and expertise are a natural fit.
Discussions at the Hydrogen Conference reinforced how aligned Ireland and Alberta are in their ambitions for low-carbon energy futures. Both regions recognize the importance of international collaboration to scale hydrogen development, storage and transport infrastructure and the interest shown by Irish organizations in visiting Alberta this coming spring signals real momentum.
Looking Ahead: Alberta Welcomes Ireland in 2026
As relationships deepen, invitations have already been extended for Irish stakeholders to visit Alberta in 2026. Plans are underway for participation in Alberta’s Hydrogen Conference in April, the Global Energy Show in June and a dedicated agricultural delegation visit, which IATA will help coordinate. Each of these visits will build on the strong connections made during this year’s meetings and showcase Alberta’s innovation, infrastructure and industry leadership.
A Strengthening Partnership
What stood out throughout the week was the genuine enthusiasm on both sides to expand cooperation—not just in policy or investment, but in creating lasting partnerships between businesses, institutions and governments. The progress made in Dublin demonstrates how far the Ireland–Alberta partnership has come—and how much potential remains to be unlocked in the years ahead.
