March 2023
Happy March! Even though winter and snow continue, there is so much to look forward to this month and in the months following.
March Is Irish Heritage Month In Canada
2023 marks the second official Irish Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the contributions of Irish Canadians (including St. Patrick’s Day!) to our country. Today, about 13% of the Canadian population and over 500,000 Albertans describe themselves as ‘Irish born’ or having Irish ancestry.
There are plenty of events happening around Alberta to celebrate this month, and the IATA is proud to sponsor 2 exciting ones!
March 11, The Green Tie Affair: The Irish Cultural Society of Calgary is bringing back this popular event on March 11th at 6pm. IATA is proud to sponsor the great music that will fill the room, and you can also find great food, dances, prizes and craic!
March 17, Shamrocks & Shenanigans at Heritage Park: On St. Patrick’s Day, join the IATA at the Gasoline Alley Museum for music from Cabot’s Crossing and an incredible dinner of classic Irish dishes and pub classics. It’ll be the best place in town to celebrate the day and all things Irish!
You can also check out these other events happening in March:
March 6, Webinar on Irish Unity: The Ireland Canada Chamber of Commerce – Montreal and Ireland Canada Business Council invite you to hear from Neale Richmond TD, Ireland’s Minister of State at the Department of Social Protection.
March 11, St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Dance (Edmonton): Featuring a roast beef dinner and Irish Dancers, Edmontonians won’t want to miss this!
